So I had a patient whining today about some tooth pain, no visible caries, no inflammation, just a stinking tooth ache. Oh yeah, and he had fibromyalgia. The doctor offered treatments other than narcotics. He demanded Lortab 10.

I had 4 impacted, infected wisdom teeth removed this last school year. And then I got dry sockets (4).

Did I run to my local ER? No, I requested a prescription for some hard core NSAIDs. Why? because I would rather treat the problem than the symptom.

What about all of those women who give birth without the aid of pain medication? If they can do that surely you can manage your little muscle aches with something short of a narcotic.

Why aren’t we pushing NSAIDs for fibromyalgia patients?

Seriously, quit your stinking whining. If you really wanted pain relief you would ask for something that would calm your so called flares (perhaps NSAIDs and some muscle relaxers) instead of demanding narcotics.

You are an addict, quit trying to make excuses to get your fix, and for God’s sake quit your freaking whining.

I haven’t been back to your blod in a while, but just read back about 5 entries, and I had to thank you for the laughs….and say, I understand…..oh wow, do I understand. I have lost count of how many times a day it’s possible to think, “quit your freaking whining!”
