Meet Me
I’m 22, I recently married Mr. Engineer. We are the proud parents to a dire cat and a mini weenie dog. It’s kinda like living with several toddlers. To top the whole thing off, I am what you would call “domestically challenged” , and by that I mean I am a horrible housewife. My living room is usually covered with an array of electric components, science text books, stuffed animals and socks. The dog loves socks.
I am soon to be in my 5th year of my undergraduate degree. I guess you could call me a “late bloomer”. Truth is I have always known I wanted to be a doctor, but I let some things in my life get in the way of getting the grades necessary to achieve my goals. So here I am, learning how to prioritize, how to really understand things and how to deal with the hard parts of the medical world. I fully believe I required the extra time in undergrad to just learn some things about myself. Currently I am studying for the MCAT and retaking a few classes that I didn’t make great grades in. I work in the local ER as a tech, which allows me a myriad of experiences with trauma, drug seekers, drug abusers, psych patients, and just plain stupid people.
At the end of the day, I pretty much boil down to this.
I love the rush you get when someone comes to you, in the most frightening of situations, and the current events are all they can think about, and you can make them feel better. I am no so naive as to think that I will be able to fix everything; and I know that death and disease must happen. I also know that I can be a person who can ease suffering, with cures, treatments or maybe just a little prayer and a reassuring word.
